Why choose feather edge fencing?
Feather edge fencing is built in place rather than dropped in as ready-made panels. Vertical boards are nailed to arris rails between the posts, each one overlapping the last, to form a solid and continuous face.
There are no thin panel frames to twist or blow out, which makes a real difference on exposed boundaries backing onto open ground. If a board is ever damaged it can be swapped on its own without taking a section down.
Built to suit your fence line
Because closeboard fencing is made on site, it follows sloping or uneven ground far better than fixed-size panels, and the height can be set to suit your boundary rather than the nearest panel size.
We normally recommend concrete or pressure treated timber posts, gravel boards at the base to keep the boards clear of damp ground, and a capping rail to shed rain off the top. On wetter ground, concrete posts and gravel boards are worth the small extra cost.
Privacy, security and a smart finish
Featheredge fencing is the natural choice for residential gardens where you want privacy from neighbours, a secure boundary for pets and a uniform finish. It suits older homes and newer estates alike, and takes stain or preservative well if you want to change the colour later.
We walk the boundary with you, check the ground and access, and send a clear written quote after the visit.
